New Music Out Now - June 11

MUSIC WORTH LISTENING TO 🎧

Lorde has a new single out (with a meme-tastic cover that she states she’s super happy with — more power to you!) that is worth listening to! (although her opening line states that she “hates the winter”, which i can’t get behind. i absolutely ❤️ the cold. it’s a huge reason why i moved to NYC).

it’s been a while (2017!) since her last album, and this new one (Solar Power) is promised to be her “most complex work”. can’t wait!

if you’re into pop and the always-dreamy voice of Adam Levine, then good news! Maroon 5 has a new album, JORDI.i’m not at all ashamed (no one should ever be ashamed of their music taste) to admit that i actually love Maroon 5 — this album gives me more of a reason to defend my choice, if ever need be. the track Lost has an incredibly catchy beat — it reminded me of listening to Coldplay’s A Sky Full of Stars when that released. give it a listen!

OTHER MUSIC STUFF

Apple released their new Spatial Audio feature this week, which fully rolled out to all Apple Music subscribers at no additional cost. from what i can tell, the internet is somewhat split over whether this makes the music sound better or worse. 

when i first started listening to tracks with the feature turned on, i really loved it — the whole idea is that they are creating a 3D sound space in/around your ears, simulating being in a room with many channels, versus just two. with some of the music i sampled, i thought it sounded superb — you feel like you’re standing in the room with the artists playing around you. but with other tracks, i found that the simple 2-channel/stereo version of the track was better and clearer — and louder. (i tend to listen to music incredibly loud).
