I SAW YOU POST ABOUT PATREON. WHAT IS THAT?

great question— and one that i got at least a couple of times last week — you can think about Patreon as building a community of super fans!

creating & launching the weekly podcast episodes, writing content, getting amazing guests on our show — all of that takes a lot of time. we’d love to be able to do more of it, but we need help to be able to do that — help from people like you!

Patreon is service that lets us do a bunch of things simultaneously in a fun way:

  • build the show to be even bigger & better

  • offer supporters exclusive access and content

  • create a community of people who all love music, mix tapes, and storytelling as much as we do!

when you sign up for Patreon, and pick a tier (we have 4 that you can choose from), you immediately gain access to additional content — content like bonus tracks, episodes, music reviews, and more. at the very least, you can help us keep doing this and reaching more people!

our Patreon page is where you do all of that, so be sure to check it out! thank you!

JOURNEY ACROSS U.S.A EPISODE 🇺🇸 🎙️

to bring in the 4th of July, matt and i head across the United States with music — each of us picked 6 songs that represent cities important in our lives, and talk through our journey across the country. it’s one of our favorite episodes we’ve recorded to date, and we hope you enjoy it! need a link to the podcast? find us on Apple Podcasts, or Spotify, or wherever you listen!

p.s. if you’re a Patreon supporter, you’ll be able to hear our bonus tracks — an additional 10 minutes of fun content!

MUSIC OUT TODAY 🎧

Wasting Time (feat Drake) by Brent Faiyaz [Spotify] [Apple Music]

Drake on a new track = i will be listening. this is my first time being introduced to Brent Faiyaz, and i’m loving it — he has a really smooth, beautiful voice that is perfect on top of this beat. it’s the kind of song you find yourself moving to. will have this on repeat a bit!

Wrecked by Imagine Dragons [Spotify] [Apple Music]

Imagine Dragons released a new single off their upcoming album (Mercury - Act 1), which is set to release in September of this year (at first glance it felt like forever away, but turns out it’s just 3 months away 😬).

seems like I.D. is continuing to do their thing with this track, and as usual, that’s okay with us. they do a great job of going from a softer sound to loud, back to soft — back to this grungy bass beat that you want to be running or lifting weights to.

For Every Voice That Never Sang by Kishi Bashi [Spotify] [Apple Music]

gorgeous lyrics. gorgeous violin & cello play. beautiful voice. what more do you want from a song? this song tells of the struggle of feeling like you’re on the outside — but is meant to encourage listeners to “keep your chin up”, as he writes, and to keep going.

WHAT’S ON REPEAT THIS WEEK 🔂

  • SAMER: Autoclave by The Mountain Goats

    • this came from Tyler Jenke’s episode, and i started listening to it again — and love it so much. their album Heretic Pride is 🔥.

  • MATT: Only a Day by Ben Kweller
