Mix Tape: Listen like it’s 1999. (The 24 best songs from the year 1999.)
Ok, so I mentioned recently that I wanted to make a mix tape featuring music exclusively released in the year 1999. So I did. And it might possibly be the most amazing mix tape ever.
I can’t tell if it’s entirely driven by nostalgia (there is a lot of that going on), or if it’s truly an incredible year for music. Like somehow after an entire decade of music being pushed into new genres and coming off the explosion of synth sound in the 80s…that it matured to its peak form this year.
The mix is a total of 24 songs — think of it as two of our traditional 12 song mix tapes mushed together — and is available on Spotify for you to listen. I have the full list here — I hope you enjoy!
(And like any good mix tape — it is not comprehensive. It was really tough to put together and leave out some incredible music. But that’s just the nature of mixes).
